About The Position

The Aerial Groundman Laborer I will be responsible for assisting with the installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power distribution lines. This position assists the Journeyman Lineman on performing work on energized and non-energized lines while operating man lift equipment, bucket trucks, or other specialized equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Experience in a laboring position in the telecommunications field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis
  • Possession of a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required.
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with construction, installation, maintenance and replacement of poles, anchors, crossarms, pins, cut-outs, and other overhead pole components
  • Assists in the installation, maintenance and replacement of transformers, reclosers, capacitors, regulators, step-downs and other overhead pole equipment
  • Assists to inspect lines, poles and equipment for signs of damage or wear
  • Assists Journeyman Lineman carry poles, dig holes, frame and guy poles to perform other operations involved in the setting or replacing of poles
  • Assists Journeyman Lineman troubleshoot electrical problems and perform emergency repairs on distribution circuits
  • Assists Journeyman Lineman set up and operate wire tensioners, rope rigs, and other wire stringing equipment
  • Stringing and sagging conductor
  • Responsible for efficient and proper use of all tools, materials, and equipment
  • Assists Journeyman Lineman inspect, and maintain bucket trucks, digger derricks, excavation equipment, and other equipment
  • Ability to interpret site plans, construction drawings, schedules, and scopes of work
  • Performs other duties as assigned
