About The Position

Works under general direction to provide individual supervision/direction to Special Education (SPED) teachers and assistants who must maintain compliance with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, federal and state regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Four (4) years related experience, totaling eight (8) years of education/experience.
  • Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in special education and administration/supervision is required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAININGM AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the use of technology to include video presentation, word processing, database spreadsheet applications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with teachers and staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing Special Education (SPED) programs and services
  • Oversees the implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEPS), Response to Interventions (RTI) and eligibility requirements.
  • Reviews the Charter School’s School Improvement Plans (SIP) to ensure completion and implementation.
  • Works collaboratively with other professionals and management representatives in the Exceptional Children/Academic Office to achieve a system-wide result.
  • Formulates local targets, goals, and activities that are in synch with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Assists in the development of a departmental budget; presents, and defends program budget requirements as it applies to the Exceptional Children/Academic Office. Oversees and submit program expenditures and prepares financial forms and reports.
  • Guides the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and correspondence related to assigned service, activities, and operations. Provides for appropriate research and compiles reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
