About The Position

Purpose and Scope Works under general direction to provide individual supervision/direction to Special Education (SPED) teachers and assistants who must maintain compliance with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, federal and state regulations. Essential Job Functions Works directly with teachers and staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing Special Education (SPED) programs and services Oversees the implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEPS), Response to Interventions (RTI) and eligibility requirements. Reviews the Charter School’s School Improvement Plans (SIP) to ensure completion and implementation. Works collaboratively with other professionals and management representatives in the Exceptional Children/Academic Office to achieve a system-wide result. Formulates local targets, goals, and activities that are in synch with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization. Assists in the development of a departmental budget; presents, and defends program budget requirements as it applies to the Exceptional Children/Academic Office. Oversees and submit program expenditures and prepares financial forms and reports. Guides the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and correspondence related to assigned service, activities, and operations. Provides for appropriate research and compiles reports. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Four (4) years related experience, totaling eight (8) years of education/experience.
  • Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in special education and administration/supervision is required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAININGM AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in the use of technology to include video presentation, word processing, database spreadsheet applications preferred
