About The Position

Provide expertise and support to Drivers, Dock, Fleet Maintenance, and Office team members as an integral member of the Operations and Safety teams. Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services to include education, coordination and analysis needed to ensure safe and timely movement of shipments.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ operations, transportation/logistics or warehouse/distribution experience
  • CDL driving experience
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks while positively motivating, coaching and communicating clear information (e.g., instructions, policies, procedures) to others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of technology required for the Driver positions, e.g., timekeeping, on-road productivity system, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations, OSHA and Hazardous Materials Regulations
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Prior LTL experience preferred
  • Leadership experience working with CDL drivers preferred
  • Driver training experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain positive driver relationships by facilitating meetings, addressing concerns, and promoting safe work practices across driver, dock, and fleet teams
  • Lead/participate in district safety communication through monthly Safety Committee meetings, road meetings, city meetings and dock meetings to ensure compliance and reinforce accountability
  • Coach and develop driver safety through defensive driving instruction, collaboration, and partnership with Operations leadership
  • Conduct driver ride-alongs and consultations to support the Safety Above All culture and ensure consistent application of company policies
  • Provide training and oversight on telematics and driver coaching systems, monitoring compliance, and ensuring data-driven performance improvement
  • Deliver and evaluate safety demonstrations and pre-shift briefings to reinforce defensive driving, Hours of Service (HOS), and DOT compliance
  • Assist Operations and Transportation leadership with the implementation of safety-related action plans, route analysis, and compensation evaluations
  • Educate and mentor employees on adherence to company policies, driver manual standards, and all applicable state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to ensure educational resources and training materials are effectively utilized across driver teams and dock teams
  • Support initiatives and events, including state and national truck driving championships and driver recognition programs
  • Ensure district compliance with all laws, regulations, and corporate policies governing driver safety and operations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall operational safety, compliance, and service excellence
