SMG seeks a Safety Advisor – Construction in Mt. Prospect, Illinois – Day Shift The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change and travel. The Associate in this role will work in a construction environment. This project is a build out of a new data center. This person will provide safety coverage/oversight during construction. They will represent the electrical contractor during underground installation, equipment installation, and commissioning. This project is scheduled to last until June of 2028,

Requirements

Five plus years of construction safety experience
MUST have a CHST certification
Previous experience overseeing an electrical contractor and LOTO
Must have NFPA 70E certification
First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
Must have OSHA 510 certification

Nice To Haves

A degree in safety or related fields is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
Must be able to create reports, run safety metrics, and use other software programs
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis
Represent the contractor in progress meetings
Verify compliance with safety policies and procedures as required by law, the Owner, and contractors
Conduct New Hire Orientations and safety meetings
Provides incident management and support
Documentation and Report preparation
Conducts Contractor program reviews
