About The Position

The Advising Student Assistant in the Advising Office assists with routine office duties. This role involves answering phones, greeting visitors, organizing office materials, filing, and assisting with scheduling student appointments. The position also includes general office duties such as routing visitors to appropriate campus resources, sorting and delivering mail, accurately filing paperwork, making copies, compiling documents, and checking students in/out. The assistant will participate in training and staff meetings and support logistics for workshops and programming. This temporary role aims to support students financially while offering valuable skill development and networking opportunities within the FGCU community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a full-time student at Florida Gulf Coast University, at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
  • Have a minimum GPA 2.5 and in good conduct standing with the University.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Ability to meet deadlines for work assignments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume department.
  • Ability to represent the university in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty, staff, students, and the public.
