About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Advising Assistant in the College of Arts & Letters - Boca Raton, FL. The Advising Assistant plays a key role in supporting the College of Arts and Letters’ Student Academic Services by serving as the first point of contact for students and ensuring the smooth operation of daily advising functions. This position combines front-line student service with essential administrative, data, and academic support to help advance the College’s goals in retention, student success, and timely graduation. The Advising Assistant contributes to efficient advising workflows, accurate academic record management, and data-informed decision making across the College.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the main Student Academic Services Suite by greeting and assisting students, coordinating appointments, and maintaining accurate student records.
  • Handle high-volume student traffic with a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor.
  • Provide logistical support during peak periods; assist with purchase orders, travel authorizations, and supply orders.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of students’ records related to graduation.
  • Process Applications for Degree each term in preparation for final review.
  • Compile and evaluate College petitions for committee consideration.
  • Provide support for retention, persistence, and graduation.
  • Acquire, analyze, and interpret student enrollment data tied to state metrics and Board of Governors KPIs.
  • Develop data-informed strategies to increase undergraduate enrollment, retention, academic progress, and graduation rates.
  • Track academic progress of student cohorts and transfer populations using university data systems.
  • Collaborate with the Director(s) to develop and maintain a shared database management system for KPI tracking and advising needs.
  • Perform additional job-related duties assigned.
