About The Position

Serves as a resource for students in assigned education programs, offering personal and professional development coaching and ongoing student support. Assist in student recruitment, training, and supervision of peer tutors. Monitors student progress, including creating an individualized strategy enhancement plan for all students. Emphasis is placed on supporting those students in academic distress, monitoring the progress of students, and maintaining records of all individual contacts. Connects students to appropriate resources (study skills strategies, writing skills, etc.). Counsels students in cases where professionalism expectations have not been met. Participate in the development and facilitation of proactive skills development workshops throughout the academic year for students. As appropriate, serves as a course director for coursework focused on career and professional development, and leadership studies. Work with all program staff and faculty to be familiar with course content and structure in order to provide optimum support to students. Serve as part of an academic support team and other committees as necessary, as well as perform other Student Affairs duties as needed and requested by the Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, or related field and four (4) years' experience in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work with individuals of diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to act as a department liaison.
  • Ability to lead and work with a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in advising and/or coaching adult students.
  • Experience in leading student-focused programs.
  • Ability to develop original ideas.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or related field preferred.
