About The Position

The Director of Academic Advising is responsible for the overall operations of the Academic Advising Office. The Director will develop and conduct training systems for Faculty and Staff Advisors. The Director will conduct and coordinate new transfer student advising appointments and will coordinate advising for new first year students during the orientation process. They will also coordinate advisor assignments for continuing students. Assist students in the development of academic plans as appropriate for their stated educational goals. These efforts may include, but are not limited to: advising, registration, program changes, course planning, transfer credits, and degree completion requirements. The Director will be responsible for conducting annual assessment of the Academic Advising program. Physical Demands Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks Typical work occurs during business hours Monday through Friday however this position may require flexible hours as needed to include evenings and weekends serving students in virtual, on-, and off-campus environments

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external constituents
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred in the area of higher education administration or student services.
  • Three years’ experience in higher education in a student service-related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the areas of academic advising and/or registrar.
  • Experience with Jenzabar One desktop preferred.
  • Candidate exhibits strong interpersonal skills, and experience working with students, parents, faculty, and staff
