About The Position

CNN International Commercial is seeking a dynamic and experienced Advertising Technology Lead to spearhead the evolution of our global ad tech infrastructure. This pivotal role will oversee the architecture and operations of our ad server systems, video and display ad setup, and workflow process platforms. Working closely with cross-functional teams in Atlanta and New York, you’ll be instrumental in driving innovation, scalability, and operational excellence across our commercial technology stack. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Media Technology, Information Technology, Communications, Advertising, or a related field that blends technical and advertising disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital advertising technology, ad operations, or ad tech platforms — candidates with 3+ years will also be considered if they have strong technical depth.
  • Strong technical foundation with deep understanding and problem solving of ad serving platforms (e.g., Google Ad Manager, FreeWheel, Xandr, Operative)
  • Project Management: Experience managing large-scale technology rollouts, vendor relationships, and cross-functional coordination is a plus
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders in Atlanta, New York, and London.
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to lead complex ad tech initiatives across global teams and time zones.
  • Problem Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving technical and operational challenges.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities in a dynamic media landscape.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to translate technical concepts into business value for commercial, editorial, and product teams.
  • Ad Server Infrastructure: Deep understanding of ad serving platforms (e.g., Google Ad Manager, FreeWheel, Xandr) Experience with server-side and client-side ad delivery Knowledge of header bidding and programmatic integrations
  • Video & Display Ad Setup: Expertise in VAST, VPAID, VMAP standards Familiarity with SSAI (Server-Side Ad Insertion) and CSAI (Client-Side Ad Insertion) Hands-on experience with display ad formats, rich media, and responsive creatives
  • Workflow & Process Systems: Experience implementing and optimizing workflow automation tools (e.g., Jira, Monday.com, Airtable) Understanding of trafficking systems, campaign management platforms, and creative approval pipelines
  • Data & Reporting: Proficiency in ad performance analytics, viewability metrics, and third-party verification tools (e.g., Moat, IAS, DoubleVerify) Ability to work with data teams to ensure accurate tracking, attribution, and reporting
  • Security & Compliance: Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and global data privacy regulations Understanding of brand safety, fraud detection, and ad quality assurance
