The Advancement and Communications Intern will be an integral member of the CNE team and will take part in staff meetings when possible. They will learn general business protocol, and professional communications, and will apply their skills in research and writing, as well as the use of various software applications. In addition, they will learn how to apply good business practices, the importance of planning, and how to work in a professional environment, engaging constituents at all levels—donors, volunteers, agencies, and professional staff. This position will enable the individual freedom to work on a variety of types of projects, depending on their skill level and ability, and will work closely with the Advancement and Communications teams as well as interact with the organizational leadership, board, and community partners. By participating in many of the organization's activities, the intern will learn about specific area nonprofit organizations, the community's concerns and needs, and the developing characteristics of Virginia's nonprofit sector. The intern will also have the opportunity to sit in on CNE trainings, workshops, and events getting both hands-on project experience as well as professional development opportunities.
