About The Position

A Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—typically a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant—diagnoses and treats cardiac conditions, manages medication regimens, orders diagnostics like ECGs/echocardiograms, and provides patient education in inpatient or outpatient settings. They collaborate with cardiologists, often serving as primary care providers for chronic cardiac patients.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Licensure: Valid NP or PA state license, with national board certification (e.g., AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
  • Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work autonomously.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: Previous experience in cardiology or critical care is preferred but not always required for all roles.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care: Perform comprehensive cardiovascular examinations, evaluate, and treat acute and chronic cardiac conditions (e.g., heart failure, arrhythmias).
  • Diagnostics: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing, including ECGs, stress tests, and echocardiograms.
  • Management: Develop individualized treatment plans, prescribe medications, and monitor patient progress.
  • Procedures: Assist with or perform, depending on certification, procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, device management (CIEDs), and stress testing.
  • Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team, providing education to patients and families.
  • Documentation: Thoroughly document encounters in electronic medical records (EMR).
