Advanced Practice Provider, Trauma, Registry
About The Position
The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for its Trauma Surgery Unit. This is a 100% onsite position, requiring the candidate to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management within the general medicine patient population. This role involves managing a caseload of patients, exercising autonomous decision-making in assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. Additionally, the APP will provide healthcare and patient services, which may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, and administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership.
Requirements
- Master's of Science in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (for Nurse Practitioner candidates)
- Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration (for Nurse Practitioner candidates)
- Certification as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (for Nurse Practitioner candidates)
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Master’s program (for Physician Assistant candidates)
- Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois PA licensure / registration (for Physician Assistant candidates)
- Ability to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient Trauma experience as a PA or NP
- ATLS certification is required within a year from date of hire
- AGACNP certification (FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant Trauma Surgery experience as a PA or NP)
Responsibilities
- Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness
- Pre and post-operative patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests
- Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services
- Assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care on an advanced level
