Under general supervision of the Attending Physician, in collaboration with other clinical staff, is responsible for evaluation and development of treatment plans for patients admitted to the gynecology service. Provide expert gynecologic consultation for inpatient and emergency department patients. Other job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: History and physical Ongoing assessment and intervention Coordination of inpatient care Surgical first assisting Discharge planning KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Communicate and coordinate effectively with supervising physician and other health professionals regarding the care of gynecology/gyn-oncology patients, as well as Obstetrics <20 weeks. Clearly communicate with patients and their families Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers, and patients Identify and assess problems while interviewing and examining patients Order and interpret lab and imaging studies, prescribe medications, complete paperwork, and formulate treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physician Perform fetal heart tones, endometrial biopsies, IUD placement, Incision and drainage of abscess, suture/staple removal, drain removals, cervical biopsy, wound management Provide pre and post-operative patient education Act as surgical first assist for a variety of gynecology and gyn-oncology procedures Manage inpatient and outpatient gynecology issues, including perioperative care Work in a collaborative fashion along with supervising physician to manage post-operative patients in PACU, floor, or ICU Cover first call from office answering service during after-hours Perform Basic and Advanced Life Support measures as necessary Perform similar and related duties as requested by supervising physician Participate in data collection and research as directed Report immediately to supervising physician any deviation of normal operations Participate in Hospital Incident Reporting System and other risk management activities Be accountable for abiding by all relevant hospital policies and procedures Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment Commit to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external) Communicate effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed
