Summary This position will partner with Sports Medicine physician Dr. Caldwell, as a full time PA, no less than 30 hours per week, covering a mix of clinic and assisting in the operating room 1 day every other week. Clinics will be based out of our Golden location, which is in the Western Denver Suburbs near the foothills. Surgeries will be performed primarily at OrthoColorado Hospital and Golden Ridge Surgery Center locations. The right person for this role will be a true partner with the physicians and will be open and willing to learn techniques, styles, and preferences that benefit the physician team. The position is responsible for providing care within the clinical, surgical and hospital setting for Spine patients treated by Panorama Orthopedics. This role will primarily be Monday through Friday a mix of clinic and surgery in a busy elective surgical practice, weekend rounds and occasional call coverage are required (a nominal stipend is offered). Requirements

  • Active Physician Assistant’s license in the State of Colorado Required
  • Active DEA license to prescribe.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous Orthopedics experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Practice Nurses – MUST have active RNFA certification to be considered.
  • Well-developed clinical skills.
  • Ability to work independently once appropriately trained.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to synthesize data to determine medical treatment plans.
  • Attention to detail is required for the applicant to succeed in a busy Orthopedic Practice.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Possess a strong desire to develop high-level surgical skills to become a true asset to the team.
  • Ability to assess patient’s conditions and make treatment plans.
  • Work effectively as a true extension of the supervising physician.
  • Including spending time outside of work to increase individual knowledge/education.
  • Optimizing your notes within the EMR, to maximize efficiency in clinic.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly communicate with patients and other staff members to gather pertinent information regarding conditions and treatment and to create well organized, succinct, and clear information to supervising physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams.
  • Conducts patient rounds on admitted patients.
  • Have the ability to read basic and advanced imaging.
  • Evaluates changes in patient conditions.
  • Issues orders for medications, treatments, and lab tests.
  • Provides surgical first assistant coverage in the operating room.
  • Writes discharge summaries, H&Ps, fills out consents, prescriptions all within a timely manner.
  • Documents all patient care actions in the EMR timely and accurately.
  • Excellent suturing skills are a must.
