About The Position

Overview: Provide direct inpatient medical care in collaboration with hospitalist physicians, including admission assessments, daily progress notes, and discharge planning. Directly admit patients coming into the medical center via the Emergency Department. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in hospitalized adult patients. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate closely with nursing, specialists, and support services to optimize patient outcomes. Respond to clinical changes, participate in rapid response efforts, and manage urgent patient needs as appropriate. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record. Facilitate safe and effective transitions of care, including patient and family education. Demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
  • Current and valid Physician Assistant License or Advanced Practice Nurse License in the State of Illinois or eligibility for licensing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Federal DEA registration and State of Illinois Controlled Substance License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior APP experience in hospital medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or a comparable acute care specialty is preferred but not required. New graduates welcome to apply.
