About The Position

BJC is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for a dual role at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. This position involves both preoperative evaluations for surgery and inpatient post-operative care, with these roles typically performed in separate weeks. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm, with no call responsibilities and a limited Saturday rotation (approximately once every 4-5 weeks). Team members in the Surgical Evaluation Center may have the opportunity to work remotely after two years of departmental experience. This role emphasizes work-life balance. Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, providing a full range of medical and surgical services including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management. It features a 24-hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The hospital is recognized as a Magnet® hospital by the ANCC for nursing excellence and quality patient care, a distinction held by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. U.S. News & World Report also ranked it #2 in the St. Louis metro area. The Outpatient Services department manages scheduling and registration for outpatient treatments and diagnostics. The Advanced Practice Provider utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill, and competence in a specialized area to coordinate, manage, and evaluate the delivery of quality patient care. This role serves as a role model, mentor, and preceptor, and requires entering into a formal collaborative practice agreement with physicians to support a designated clinical service.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the health care of select patient populations through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Coordinates the care of select patient populations to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals.
  • Assesses development needs of staff and develops and delivers appropriate educational programs to meet staff needs.
  • Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol.
