About The Position

The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Campus is seeking an Instructor of Clinical Practice or Senior Instructor of Clinical Practice (Advanced Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to provide diabetes care in the BDC Pediatric Division. The patient population is primarily newly diagnosed and established children, adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes. The successful candidate will provide clinical care for BDC patients in the Pediatric clinic. The candidate will also be working with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, APP’s, nurse educators, dietitians, and clinical social workers. Typical hours are Monday-Friday based on clinic appointments with some on call responsibilities. The BDC is the largest diabetes institute in the world specializing in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. Over 200 clinicians, clinical researchers, basic biomedical scientists and supporting staff work at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and cure for type 1 diabetes. The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 7,000 children and adults with diabetes as well as inpatient care at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. The dedicated Children’s Diabetes Foundation has generously supported the BDC mission since 1977. The BDC Pediatric Diabetes Division provides families and patients with an understanding of type 1 diabetes and encourages their confidence in its day-to-day management. Present evidence strongly suggests that consistent blood sugar control greatly diminishes the chances of long-term eye and kidney complications. The Pediatric Clinic offers complete education and support for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. The expectation is that by the time patients are ready to leave home for college or the workforce, they will have the ability to manage their own blood sugars.
