About The Position

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a dedicated full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its faculty at the level of Instructor to deliver care at its community practice sites. The APP will provide high-quality, patient-centered dermatologic care at our community-based outpatient clinical state-of-the-art sites. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Dermatology provider with at least 2 years of experience delivering dermatologic care in an outpatient setting and have a passion for providing personalized, evidence-based patient care. The successful applicant will practice alongside skilled and knowledgeable dermatologists in our academic community-based clinics, which include CU Medicine Dermatology Montview and CU Medicine Dermatology Highlands Ranch.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited AAPA approved Physician Assistant training program or APN licensure and a master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification from the NCCPA or ANCC or other comparable certification required.
  • Ability to obtain a Colorado PA or NP license prior to starting date.
  • Ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the state of Colorado.
  • Two years of experience in outpatient general dermatology practice.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team in outpatient settings.
  • Ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding patient-facing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years’ experience in an outpatient general dermatology practice with outstanding patient satisfaction ratings on publicly available websites.

Responsibilities

  • Support all facets of clinical service to include the following: managing new and return patient visits, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • Coordinates the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic. Works with the team to ensure smooth operation of the clinic.
  • Writes progress notes indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed; maintains other office and hospital records as required.
  • Provide administrative support and thorough follow-up to ensure orderly, effective, and quality patient care. This may include the development and implementation of educational materials or protocols for staff and patients.
  • The candidate will become proficient in the electronic medical record (EPIC) system and be able to chart, obtain data, and use all the communication tools.
  • Notify Clinic Director and Clinic Manager regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
