About The Position

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Advanced Practice Nurse for the Department of Surgery within New Jersey Medical School. Advanced Practice Nurse will be an integral member of the Vascular Surgery & Otolaryngology Teams at Rutgers NJMS , providing care to patients, improving efficiency of care, and participating in both quality improvement and clinical research programs. New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Responsibilities

• Collects comprehensive patient health data/history including past and present medical, surgical, family and social history.
• Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted and documented at the Electronic Medical Record ( EMR ).
• Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit.
• Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management.
• Evaluates patients in the Emergency Department and for inpatient consultations and assists in management of these patients.
• Critically analyzes the assessment data/diagnostic tests and determines a diagnosis.
• Develops a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes.
• Evaluates laboratory studies and diagnostic tests and provides appropriate interventions as required.
• Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes.
• Monitor for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence.
