About The Position

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Advanced Practice Nurse for the Department of Surgery within New Jersey Medical School. Advanced Practice Nurse will be an integral member of the Vascular Surgery & Otolaryngology Teams at Rutgers NJMS , providing care to patients, improving efficiency of care, and participating in both quality improvement and clinical research programs. New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Responsibilities

  • Collects comprehensive patient health data/history including past and present medical, surgical, family and social history.
  • Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted and documented at the Electronic Medical Record ( EMR ).
  • Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit.
  • Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management.
  • Evaluates patients in the Emergency Department and for inpatient consultations and assists in management of these patients.
  • Critically analyzes the assessment data/diagnostic tests and determines a diagnosis.
  • Develops a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes.
  • Evaluates laboratory studies and diagnostic tests and provides appropriate interventions as required.
  • Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes.
  • Monitor for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence.
