About The Position

The Advanced Manufacturing Teacher at George Washington High School plays a vital role in preparing students for success in Indiana's Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Logistics Academy. The educator will train and guide students in the field of computer-integrated manufacturing, supporting the attainment of industry-recognized certifications, dual credit opportunities, and professional skills that prepare them for high-wage, high-demand careers.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of professional experience in Advanced Manufacturing or a closely related field required.
  • Must be eligible for one of the following Indiana Department of Education licenses:
  • Technology Education (5-12)
  • CTE Advanced Manufacturing or Trade and Industrial
  • Workplace Specialist: Advanced Manufacturing
  • For candidates pursuing Workplace Specialist Licensure:
  • 5,000 hours (3 years) of verified occupational experience within the last five years; or
  • 4,000 hours within the past ten years plus:
  • Occupational licensure, or
  • Completion of an accredited 2-year (or higher) degree in a related field, or
  • Completion of an apprenticeship or internship program.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction aligned with Indiana's Advanced Manufacturing pathway standards.
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans and accompanying materials that meet curriculum objectives.
  • Provide frequent feedback to students and parents on academic progress, attendance, and behavior.
  • Maintain accurate student files, training records, and documentation of certifications earned.
  • Manage and track grades, attendance, and disciplinary data.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment that supports hands-on, project-based learning.
  • Serve as a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Advisory Board and engage industry partners to align curriculum with workforce needs.
  • Maintain an inventory of classroom tools, equipment, and technology.
  • Sponsor or co-sponsor a student organization or club related to manufacturing or engineering.
  • Collaborate with CTE colleagues, specialists, and administrators to strengthen student outcomes and pathway quality.
  • Model professionalism and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and industry partners.
  • Follow district and building policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Career Academy Coordinator/Principal.
