About The Position

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support the Engineering Team in the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes within a high-voltage battery production environment. This hands-on role provides real-world experience for students pursuing degrees in Engineering. Interns will be embedded in cross-functional teams and contribute to key initiatives that drive safety, quality, and efficiency improvements across the organization. Interns will report directly to the Engineering Manager and be paired with a mentor in their respective discipline. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will present a summary of their project work and impact to the Executive Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled as a junior or senior undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Controls, or Validation Engineering (or related field).
  • Strong technical aptitude and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook); experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools preferred.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA required to enter the program.
  • Must be actively enrolled in school.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and configure Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for real-time data acquisition, alarms, and user-friendly interfaces, including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards and historical data logging.
  • Develop and validate system architecture and prototypes, deliver documentation, testing, user guides, and a final report with recommendations and benefits.
  • Support engineering activities in both production and office environments, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Assist in the development of tooling, work instructions, process flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEAs), and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in the execution of assigned project deliverables and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of operator standard work.
  • Implement and sustain 6S and ergonomic improvements across manufacturing areas.
  • Analyze process data to identify inefficiencies and propose actionable solutions.
  • Maintain engineering databases, spreadsheets, and prepare technical presentations.
  • Complete a 12-week final project presentation at the end of internship.
  • Report the progress of tasks on a regular basis.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
