The Machine Operator X will work at the Greenville, SC Gas Turbine Manufacturing plant and will work set-up and operate a variety of advanced technical/ complex production equipment and tooling in a gas turbine manufacturing facility. You will also have ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in position of responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the 01X Advanced Machinist Assessment
  • Completion of a technical machinist or tool maker program OR at least 1 year of experience operating manual, conventional, or CNC machines such as VTLs, VBMs, HBMs, large milling machines, NC grinders, or lathes
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (3PM–11PM), including overtime and occasional weekends
  • Comfortable working in a tobacco-free environment and wearing required PPE
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not available)
  • Technically skilled in setting up and operating complex machining equipment
  • Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving abilities
  • Safety-conscious, quality-driven, and focused on continuous improvement
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and flexible attitude toward tasks and schedules
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a dynamic and fast-paced production environment

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a wide range of advanced manual, conventional, and CNC machines to manufacture gas turbine parts and tooling of various sizes and complexities.
  • Assemble and disassemble parts as needed to prepare for machining processes.
  • Perform detailed machine setups, including: – Assembling, positioning, and aligning fixtures – Establishing coordinate systems and inputting offsets – Measuring tools and entering dimensional data and compensation values
  • Run machines safely for testing new processes, programs, and adjustments.
  • Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure quality parts throughout production.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems across fixtures, machines, programs, and inspections.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Maintain part quality by consistently refining and monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and programmers to improve processes and report deviations.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control checks using gauges and measuring instruments.
  • Actively participate in team efforts, lean initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Take on additional related tasks and responsibilities as required.
