About The Position

This life methods engineer will develop and support methods and tools to support state-of-the-art fatigue life analysis for critical aircraft engine components with a strong focus on fracture mechanics and low-cycle fatigue (LCF). In this role you will develop and improve life methods with a focus on continuous improvement of tools and processes for fatigue life analysis, fracture mechanics, and LCF. You will share data, learnings, solutions, and tools to guide the Life Management Technical Community with consistent decisions and processes. You will contribute to the design and development of new products, solutions, and systems as well as technical improvement of existing products and components. You will operate with moderate autonomy within the role, using sound judgment to identify and implement solutions, with guidance as needed. This is a hybrid position located within commuting distance of our West Chester, Ohio facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years Design Engineering experience or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years Design Engineering experience
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, for applicants who are not U.S. lawful permanent residents, U.S. Citizens, or have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., not a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), otherwise known as a U.S. Person), employment will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would be centered around life methods
  • Closely coordinate with the applied lifing, advanced design tools, materials behavior, and engineering teams, for both fielded and new production introduction applications
  • Develop and apply in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, specifically fracture mechanics and fatigue lifing, and continuous improvement of tools and processes associated with this discipline
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.
  • Explains information, developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
  • Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
