About The Position
The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician provides out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients, including non-emergency/routine medical transports and life threatening emergencies. Additional Department Summary: Performs interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. Leads stabilization and safe transport of patients needing emergency care. Functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight, and serves as a link from the scene to the emergency health care system. Completes incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be licensed as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician by the State of Alabama.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR/AED First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Must be able to lift/push up to 200 pounds; this position will assist in the evacuation of sick and injured persons during an emergency.
- Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

- Functional understanding of basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.
- Functional understanding of communications equipment, including telephone, 2-way radios, and recording equipment.

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPPA regulations at all times.

- Working knowledge of data entry and Microsoft Office.
