About The Position

Progeny Systems LLC, a General Dynamics Mission Systems company, specializes in software and hardware system integration, R&D, and manufacturing, providing systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies, and commercial clients. As an Advanced DevOps Specialist, you will contribute to automation for container orchestration platforms, build and deploy CICD pipelines, automate build processes for various applications, and collaborate with the team on product updates and enhancements. The role involves supporting the successful implementation of cloud platforms through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, and troubleshooting for internal and external consumers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering and/or related field or equivalent experience, plus 5 years of related experience or Master's degree and 3 years of related experience
  • Experience working with, or are familiar with the differences between, public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments
  • Container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Deployment or use of continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef
  • Experience supporting production-grade applications in virtualized environments (cloud computing platforms and services) using automation
  • Creation or use of pipelines (Git, Gitlab Runner), Ansible Playbooks, and/or Terraform configurations to automate administrative actions from resource creation to service configuration
  • Strong background in scripting and debugging within all the technologies mentioned
  • Effective communication and attention to detail
  • Proven background in Agile methodologies
  • Automation of build processes from source code (C, C#, etc.)
  • Travel to multiple sites when required

Nice To Haves

  • Scaled Agile Framework experience preferred
  • Buildroot experience preferred
  • Static code analysis tools such as SonarQube
  • Building and deploying pipelines in an air gapped development environment
  • Installation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies such as Amazon Web Services, OpenStack, RHOSP, or VIO
  • Management of Cloud Resources in Amazon Web Services, and/or Azure
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift
  • Cloud automation tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer
  • Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
  • Strong understanding of software development process, as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
  • Creative thinker capable of applying new information quickly to solve challenging problems

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to automation that instantiates and maintains container orchestration platforms
  • Build and deploy CICD pipelines involving automatic builds of software and firmware, automated unit testing, static code analysis, and release management
  • Automate build processes of embedded and non-embedded applications (C, C#, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Work closely with our team to plan major updates and enhancements to our products
  • Support successful implementation of the platform in the Cloud through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more
