Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in health, social services, social work, healthcare administration, gerontology, disability studies, criminal justice, or public administration plus 1 year of health or human services experience; OR Associate degree in one of the above fields plus 4 years of health or human services experience; OR 4 years of law enforcement or criminal investigation experience.
Ability to relate well to persons with disabilities and older individuals, respecting their privacy and dignity.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and diverse environment.
Ability to prioritize and respond to multiple service requests in a timely manner.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Teams).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Passage of complete background clearance and other required testing.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of liability insurance.
Support for the Codes of Ethics established by Catholic Charities USA, NASW, and APA.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in health, social services, social work, healthcare administration, gerontology, disability studies, criminal justice, or public administration (preferred for managing Master’s-level interns)

Responsibilities

Conduct face-to-face investigations and comprehensive assessments of alleged abuse, neglect, exploitation, or self-neglect.
Receive and document reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect or exploitation of older adults and persons with disabilities.
Conduct case consultations with the Adult Protective Services Supervisor for investigation strategies and supports.
Make imminent referrals for emergency services such as medical care, law enforcement, and basic needs.
Prioritize and respond to client needs within specified time frames.
Work effectively with co-workers and other community agencies.
Attend staff meetings, in-services, conferences, and workshops.
Be an active member of the APS Multi-disciplinary Team.
Document all activities on required forms, adhering to APS program policies and time frames.
Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.
