About The Position

Job Summary: The Clinical Supervisor leads an Adult Outpatient Care Team in delivering high-quality behavioral health services to individuals with mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. This role ensures care aligns with KMHS standards and a recovery-focused framework to enhance clients’ overall well-being. The Clinical Supervisor provides direct supervision, clinical coordination, and support to staff; facilitates collaboration across agency programs and community resources; and ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements. Responsibilities include monitoring service delivery, reviewing clinical documentation, and maintaining quality assurance to promote effective, client-centered care.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Master’s degree in psychology, social services, or behavioral health.
  • EXPERIENCE: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
  • LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
  • Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined in RCW 71.05.020.
  • This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency. Therefore, the incumbent must meet all agency driving requirements, including being at least 21 years old, having been licensed for a minimum of three years, successfully completing a motor vehicle history check, possessing and maintaining a current, valid driver’s license in the state of Washington, and having reliable, insured transportation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental health, including health care reform and automation of job tasks using computer technology.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of mental health rehabilitation standards.

Nice To Haves

  • EXPERIENCE: Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years of experience). Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, or substance abuse treatment. Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • LICENSURE: Washington License (LICSW, LMFT or LMHC).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical operations of the Care Team, ensuring adequate staff coverage, timely service delivery, and effective treatment planning. Evaluate client progress, provide supervision and chart reviews, use EMR data to monitor performance, offer feedback, and adjust processes to maintain quality care. Provide daily walk-in clinical consultation to staff.
  • Lead implementation of integrated treatment for clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, coordinating closely with Pathways KMHS SUD professionals and the Pacific Hope and Recovery Center.
  • Ensure comprehensive, evidence-based treatment planning with clear goals, crisis and discharge plans, and care management addressing physical health, housing, and vocational needs. Maintain collaborative communication during transitions (AIU, CTF, PHRC), ensure continuity of care during staff or client transfers, and verify proper documentation.
  • Manage staffing functions including recruitment, hiring, orientation, supervision, and performance evaluation. Provide training and mentoring to build clinician competencies, coordinate specialized training, and address performance issues in consultation with Human Resources.
  • Support clinicians through ongoing coordination and problem-solving with clients, agency programs, and community resources; accompany staff to partner meetings when needed to strengthen collaboration.
  • Collaborate with KMHS Medication Services to monitor medication adherence and utilization, ensuring appropriate follow-up and coordinated care.
  • Work with Housing programs and the Housing Director to identify appropriate placements (e.g., assisted living, adult family homes, rehabilitation, or KMHS Housing) based on medical criteria.
  • Contribute to AOP program development and management, working with supervisors and managers to ensure continuity of care, assess program needs, set goals, support policy implementation, and address clinical or fiscal challenges within managed care frameworks.
  • Foster effective communication and partnerships with community organizations, law enforcement, housing providers, employers, advocacy groups, and internal KMHS departments (MCOT, AIU, CTF, Residential, Housing). Engage families and advocates to resolve client needs within KMHS services.
  • Promote a safe, supportive environment by modeling crisis intervention and engagement strategies, assessing acute risk, developing safety plans with clients, and involving MCOT when detainment evaluation is needed.
  • Provides leadership to a multidisciplinary team through guidance and support.
  • Assist in client check-in and other administrative tasks when operationally necessary.
