The Syracuse City School District is seeking an Adult Education Bilingual Case Manager to support refugees and immigrant education, employment, and community-based opportunities within the Central New York Community and the Syracuse City School District. This position is crucial in collaborating with Catholic Charities on its Refugee Supported Services Program (RSSP) and supporting various New York State Education Department (NYSED) and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Education initiatives, particularly those related to English as a Second Language (ESL) programming. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that all students, especially those who are underserved or considered 'hard to serve', have access to the resources and support they need to succeed in their educational and employment endeavors. The Adult Education Bilingual Case Manager will be responsible for meeting with students to identify barriers to education and employment, providing them with community resources to address these barriers, and ensuring their persistence in instructional classes. This role includes administering required employment and educational assessments, presenting participants with resources for accessing benefits, and guiding them through the various pathways to obtaining a New York State High School Equivalency diploma. The case manager will also assist students in completing necessary documentation, registering them on relevant platforms, and connecting them with local workforce development services. In addition to these responsibilities, the case manager will provide exemplary customer service to a diverse adult population, honoring the diversity, equity, and belonging of students' backgrounds and languages. The position requires attendance at 14 hours of mandatory NYSED training annually, and the Employment Specialist may be called upon to perform other duties as needed. This role is integral to the district's mission of ensuring that all students graduate with the skills necessary for college and career readiness, particularly those from underprivileged and underrepresented backgrounds.
