About The Position

Position Summary: The Adult Crisis Therapist provides professional crisis intervention and brief solution focused therapeutic interventions for walk in clients seeking safety, resources, shelter, legal support, and/or other related sexual or domestic violence events. The Adult Crisis Therapist will also assist clients in securing long term therapy within or outside of DVIS, depending upon the situation. Lastly, the Adult Crisis Therapist will hold a small caseload (3-5) clients for individual therapy and will cover group therapy as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written), ability to manage sensitive/confidential information, and to respond calmly under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and crisis situations.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software; experience with electronic client records is a plus.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness in service delivery.
  • Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner, and gender-based violence, post-traumatic stress, and rape trauma, and racial, class, gender, and sexual orientation issues strongly preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or another related mental health field required or related field.
  • Requires 1 year of supervised experience working with clients in a clinical setting (Can be obtained during a master level internship). Experience working in a nonprofit is strongly preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills.
