About The Position

Outpatient Therapist for our Adolescent IOP Program - Opportunity! Lighthouse Behavioral Health Hospital is a psychiatric hospital that began offering substance abuse and mental health services in 2002. Primarily established to house adolescents, Lighthouse has transitioned to offering a full spectrum of acute inpatient services to adults and seniors as well. Since 2010, Lighthouse has expanded its mental health and substance abuse services. In 2013, Lighthouse opened a 28-day inpatient chemical dependency rehabilitation unit—the first of its kind in the Grand Strand area. In 2015, Lighthouse opened an acute adolescent unit to meet the needs of teens and their families in the Grand Strand. In 2022, Lighthouse opened an Adult Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program. At Lighthouse, we strive to perform at a high level for our patients and their families. The qualified Outpatient Adolsecent Clinician must be able to provide direct and indirect quality clinical care to patients with substance abuse or chemical dependency problems. The ideal candidate will be well versed in program development and implementation, care and discharge planning, and work within a group environment. Candidate must be responsible for comprehensive assessment of persons whose lives are disrupted or complicated by mental illness, behavioral disturbance, substance issues or inability to function or maintain in the community. Assists law enforcement, family members and others with admission process, both voluntary and involuntary. Makes referrals to community resources as appropriate. Coordinates discharge planning through the medical staff. The therapist is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participate in the community relations program of the organization. Participates in continuous performance improvement activities. Communicates with outpatient referral sources, families/guardians, and outpatient aftercare providers. Other duties and expectations may include but not limited to: Assess patient's state and extent of chemical use or psychiatric state. Conduct psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus. Develop and implement a plan of treatment, ion conjunction with members of the outpatient team. Conduct didactic and other appropriate patient groups, utilizing 12-Step philosophy, and/or psychiatric coping mechanisms. Communicate with referral sources and other appropriate parties regarding patients' progress. Develop and coordinate an individual discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and chart information to determine the patients' aftercare needs. Identify and assess family or community resources such as group homes or mental health practitioners. Participate in discharge process by completing summaries making aftercare referrals, and by attending discharge conference with patients, family members, and treatment team members. Report any incidents or suspected incidents of sexual/physical abuse or other patient issues to community or state agencies and represent the hospital in any legal proceedings. Participate in department and other program or clinical and administrative meetings, support maintenance and development of clinical program services. Provide backup services for incoming assessment and referral calls. Additional duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or closely related Mental Health field from an accredited college or university
  • Comfortability working with child and adolescent clients
  • Need to have completed an Internship during Masters Program to obtain 45 credits
  • Required license eligibility with: LICSW, LMHC OR LMFT
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships through compassion, empathy and insight
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of clients from diverse cultural or linguistic backgrounds
  • Excellent time management skills to maintain appointments and timely record keeping

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge or background in Programming preferred
  • Familiarity with support groups
