About The Position

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; registering all new patients, obtaining the necessary information from them upon arrival. Functioning as an operator for the entire hospital and as an answering service for physicians. Also performs general clerical duties. Other functions that may be assigned.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Experience with computers and insurance preferred.
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Responsibilities

(25%) Completes registration of incoming patients.
(25%) Know insurances and how they interact with one another. Know basic reimbursement and ability to explain it to the public.
(25%) Performs duties of the physician answering service.
(25%) Maintains appropriate files and records.
