About The Position

All staff that work for Patient Access are responsible for collecting demographic information, insurance information, signatures on Conditions of Admission, CCS Applications, Presumptive Eligibility for Medical, and other legal notifications. The department is responsible for notifying insurance companies of patients accessing the hospital either through the ED or through Admitting or Direct Admit from another facility. We provide information to families about their legal rights to privacy and services that the hospital provides in accordance with government compliance. We can speak to the patient's insurance plan and provide clarity for liability and contracted status. The Admitting Patient Representative Lead assists in the direction of the Patient Access Supervisor for the oversight of activities of the Emergency Department Registration function. This position is responsible for providing feedback on daily registration processes and staffing issues to the ED Patient Access Supervisor. The individual will provide assistance to staff level employees as necessary to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures. Additionally, the individuation will assist leadership with staffing, report reconciliation, QA processes and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of registration and insurance verification experience at CHLA OR 3+ years of related external experience.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of medical office or hospital experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
