About The Position
Wilmington Treatment Center is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Admissions Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming patients, helping to create a welcoming and supportive experience as they begin their recovery journey. Position Overview:The Admissions Specialist is responsible for coordinating the patient intake process, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately, and supporting a smooth transition into care. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a healthcare, hospital, or admissions setting is a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach
- College degree preferred
- Two years’ experience in healthcare admissions, preferably in the mental health or substance abuse field.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC); Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDS) or Certified Employee Assistance Program (CEAP) certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Promptly respond to inbound referrals via phone, fax, webform, etc. to assist clients and their family’s who are seeking treatment.
- Review prospective admissions against approved admission criteria, policies, and procedures.
- Initiate contact to gather required clinical and demographic data from patient and other sources.
- Respond promptly to inquiry calls.
- Schedule assessments.
- Assist prospective patients and significant others in seeking treatment.
- Refer inquiries to other agencies and community resources when not appropriate for facility assistance or admission.
- Coordinate with referral sources.
- Coordinate transportation arrangements for patients.
- Responsible for maintaining all the documentation involved with the admissions process.
- Perform other functions and task as assigned
- Complies with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintains organizational and industry policies regarding confidentiality.
- Communicate clearly and effectively to person(s) receiving services and their family members, guests, and other members of the health care team.
- Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintains them over time.
- Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
