About The Position

Ottawa University (established in 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, is a multi-campus system serving approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (Ottawa, Kansas- Residential Campus and Overland Park, Kansas- Adult Programs); Arizona (Surprise Residential Campus and OUAZ Adult Programs); Wisconsin (Brookfield Adult Programs); and our OU ONLINE PROGRAM based out of Overland Park, Kansas. Ottawa University is a regionally accredited, church-related, private university that strives to integrate faith, learning, and life in the academic experiences of students. Responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of students within an established territory into the Ottawa Residential Campus programs by using effective enrollment management sales and advising techniques and excellent customer service skills that are aligned with Ottawa University’s student centric philosophy. Generates prospective student and new student enrollments for the Ottawa Residential Campus academic degree programs. Requires personal initiative and ongoing communication with applicants to assist them in all phases of the new student enrollment process. Responsible for achieving measurable enrollment goals and objectives. This position is based out of The Residential in Ottawa, Kansas, and requires travel, and evening/weekend hours.

Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Previous experience in a recruiting or sales position in a college environment required.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Customer Service oriented with strong verbal communication skills
  • Professional or heavy telephone experience
  • Requires a minimum of 3 nights per week for home interviews
  • Ability to facilitate resolution of problems
  • Must possess the skills to self-initiate and manage a diverse set of activities/duties
  • Accuracy, organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful time sensitive deadlines
  • Proficiency with a PC including, word, excel and student database systems
  • Ability to work independently, making sound decisions
  • Must be able to lead prospective students toward decisions and successfully close a deal
  • Must maintain a valid driver license and be available for overnight travel
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Must be able to lift 5-15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for meeting individual targeted new student enrollment goals and contribution toward accomplishing overall department goals through management of an assigned territory and activities, high school visits and presentations, and follow-up in home or phone interviews with the prospective student and parents or guardian.
  • Recruits and enrolls students into Ottawa University’s courses and programs by using effective enrollment management sales techniques and excellent customer service skills.
  • Responsible for high school visit program at all high schools in the territory in order to establish rapport with high school staff, and to meet set production goals.
  • Conducts educational and motivational presentation to high school and college transfer students for the purpose of influencing their decisions to pursue higher education options with Ottawa University.
  • Obtains leads through school visits and weekly classroom lectures and presentations.
  • Responsible for establishing home interview and/or campus visit appointments and conducting in-home or phone interviews to facilitate the enrollment process with student/parents.
  • Responsible for attaining a targeted level of campus visits interviews as well as securing a targeted level of applications and deposits as a result of these visits.
  • Responsible for duties related to College Fairs, College Nights and other related programming including: setup and tear down of booth for events, meet and discuss program offerings with prospective high school students visiting college fairs, and foster interest in appointment/interview which leads to campus visits.
  • Responsible for Community Colleges and American Baptist as well as other church affiliations (as assigned) in territory through building and maintaining relationships within these areas and seek lead generating opportunities toward new students.
  • Facilitates the process required for financial aid application.
  • Manages the process for decision making related to each prospective student’s entry into Ottawa University.
  • Maintains reports in order to track all associated activities and goals.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timely entry of all data information pertaining to assigned students in student database systems.
  • Applies and utilizes new knowledge, skills gained from learning into daily work assignments to improve individual productivity.
  • Model and encourage collaboration among University departments assuring effective communication and operations.
  • Understand the University’s policies and, procedures, and exercise good judgment accordingly.
  • Provide leadership through conduct, attitude, and professionalism.
