The Admissions Counselor works directly with Deans, faculty, and staff, as needed, in the development of an effective, data-informed enrollment planning process to recruit a pool of students meeting the University’s strategic goals for all populations of students. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for meeting the transfer enrollment goals of the University by independently developing and managing a specific assigned recruitment territory in order to identify, attract, select and enroll diverse and qualified students to Radford University. Through oversight of prospect generation, recruitment travel, outreach, and yield efforts related to both students and families, this position will establish direct territory-specific initiatives to meet territory recruitment goals. The Admissions Counselor will be expected to engage in extensive recruitment travel (including evening, weekend, and extended overnight); conducting recruitment presentations across a territory; serving as an ambassador for Radford University to visiting prospective students and families; as well as advising potential freshman and transfer students on admissions procedures, policies, and pathways. The Admissions Counselor will develop an in-depth understanding of admissions practices, institutional policies, and program offerings in order to effectively recruit students. The Admissions Counselor will also implement a domestic student recruitment plan which includes high school visits, two-year college visits, college fairs, information sessions, receptions, and meetings with secondary school and independent counselors, prospective students, families, and community-based organizations, and support the recruitment and admission of transfer students from institutions within the assigned territory. The individual must be highly motivated, goal-oriented, attentive to detail, well organized, able to multi-task, and work well under pressure and with diverse constituencies. The ideal candidate must possess a strong desire to work with prospective students and their families; demonstrate a genuine desire to represent Radford University and all its programs (to include college fairs and high school visits) with a positive attitude; possess strong verbal and written communication skills as well as computer and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to travel in and out of state in support of enrollment initiatives and be able to lift or move up to 20 pounds.
