About The Position

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 17 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities. Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing. Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues. We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or those with self-injurious behavior. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility. Website: https://harborpointbhc.com/ Position Scope: Serves as a communicator for the facility by responding to requests for general information about the facility, its programs and services, converting referral calls to admissions. Verifies all components of the application processes, financial contractual arrangements and administrative processes, completing in accordance with licensure, regulatory and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or related degree.
  • One or more years of experience in a residential/acute psychiatric healthcare setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pound. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Document referrals received and communicate dispositions to appropriate persons.
  • Conduct tours and verification of funding for placement.
  • Facilitate pre-placement communication regarding resident information with facility staff parents/referral sources.
  • Coordinate admission process and paperwork with facility staff and parent/legal guardian.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with referrals sources/referring agencies.
