About The Position

The Coordinator of Admissions is responsible for screening, planning, organizing, and directing all possible Health Care admissions in accordance with Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility. The Admissions Coordinator works in conjunction with the Medical Director, HCC Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Billing Supervisor, as well as the Interdisciplinary Team. Also, the Coordinator works in conjunction with the HCC Administrator and Community Marketing Director to promote the services of the Health Care Center to maintain a strong census.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
  • Must have the ability to work with all types of people.
  • Must have a commitment to work as a team member and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must exude a compassionate, empathetic and supportive character toward the residents and families of Palm Village.
  • Must be sensitive to, respectful of, and willing to become knowledgeable of Palm Village theology and interdenominational services.

Nice To Haves

  • A licensed nurse with current certification/licensure is preferred.
  • Long term care experience preferred.
  • Experience in sales and marketing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Admissions Coordinator ensures all insurances, private, Medicare, and/or Medi-cal are current and coverage is in effect before admission of the resident.
  • Works aggressively to maintain high census through the development of ongoing relationship with all discharge planners, case managers, physicians and other suitable decision makers including insurance company coordinators.
  • Makes sound decisions and appropriately manages all incoming inquiries and admissions. Participates with Nursing staff and Medical Records, as well as resident and family, with orders and information from hospitals.
  • Works with MDS and the Rehab Department to assure admission criteria will be met for Medicare/Insurance coverage. Also, the continuation of care at Rehab meetings for Medicare as well as private insurance companies.
  • Contacts physicians, families and hospitals for needed information for admissions.
  • Attends meetings as required by the Administrator, and serves on various committees as required in accordance with regulation and facility policies example; Medicare Rehab meetings and marketing meetings.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the profession, as well as to maintain licensure on a current status.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
