About The Position

Overview QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a dedicated Admissions and Disposition Clerk to support the Patient Administration Department at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. Duty Location: Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. No Telework allowed. Duty Hours : Monday – Friday (0700 – 1530). Total work hours shall not exceed 40 hours per week. Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities Receives and screens telephone calls; receives walk-in patients; responds to various general and routine medical, personnel and administrative inquiries, and escorts patients as necessary. Creates preadmission charts and completes the process in the electronic medical record or government systems in accordance with regulation and local policy and procedure. Provides advance directives, third party liability documentation, and other forms for patient to complete for inclusion into inpatient medical record . Tracks and reports daily patient movement, bed status and ward transfers. Corrects admission errors. Assists in coordinating patient transfers from other wards or to outside facilities. Tracks and reports all casualty reports and notifications in accordance Government policies and procedures. Minimum Requirements Degree/Education: High School degree / GED Experience: Possess a minimum of two (2) years Office Automation/Front Desk Clerk, with at least one (1) year in a medical or hospital environment. Knowledge of Medical Terminology. Knowledge and demonstrated competence in the use of the capabilities, operating characteristics, and advanced functions of office automation software (e.g., word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, database, spreadsheet, or communication). Capable of typing 60 words per minute and well versed in the operation of a wide range of dictating equipment and software. Demonstrate c omprehensive knowledge of standard medical facility / office rules, regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs ) and other guidelines relating to completing task s. This knowledge is usually attained through extensive, increasingly difficult, and practical experience and training in a medical office or similar setting . Requirements
