The expected salary range for this job opportunity is: $51,986 to $52,500. The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations. The Admission Counselor is an entry-level admission officer and an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to advance college access at an institution deeply committed to expanding opportunity for academically talented students from all backgrounds. The Admission Counselor serves as a voting member of the Admission Committee, represents Amherst in outreach efforts, and contributes meaningfully to the College’s commitment to access, diversity, and inclusion. The Admission Counselor plays a key role in the Admission Office and the Visitor Relations team. As part of Visitor Relations, the Counselor helps design and implement high-impact recruitment and yield initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Admission, the Admission Counselor supports the operations of campus visit programs, including tours, information sessions, and open houses, ensuring that every visitor experiences Amherst as a welcoming and inclusive community. This full-time, year-round position is primarily on campus, with potential for limited participation in the College’s hybrid work program. The role includes several weeks of annual recruitment travel, including visits to high schools, community-based organizations, and student programs. Evening and weekend work is occasionally required.
