About The Position

This position reports directly to the President and serves as the Administrator of Allied Health Services. Directly supervises leadership for mental health, health care center, speech and audiology, and the culinary program, as well as FSDB pharmacist, occupational therapy, and pediatrician services. The Administrator of Allied Services plans and directs Allied Services functions at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Allied Health Services Department. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time staff within the department, conducting regular performance evaluations and offering ongoing professional learning opportunities. Offer guidance and support to department staff, including mentoring, coaching, and problem-solving assistance. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration, professional growth, continuous learning, and job satisfaction among team members. Conduct department meetings with full-time and OPS staff on a regularly scheduled basis and attend staff meetings of directors within the department frequently to provide support and assist with coordinating work assignments to ensure continuing operations as needed. Provide daily management and direction of Allied Health Services departments, with a focus on fiscal integrity, resource management, staff development, strategic planning, quality assurance, and policy and procedure compliance. Advise, plan, and oversee support services in alignment with FSDB Board Rules, Individual Education Plans, and medical/care plans for academic and boarding program students. Develop, organize, administer, and evaluate policies, procedures, and programs to achieve departmental objectives. Ensure compliance with state and federal statutes, Board of Trustees Rules, Florida Administrative Code, and school policies, while staying informed about legislative changes and sharing relevant information with other departments. Serves as a member of the President’s Advisory Team, Administrative Budget Team, CARES Team, Continuous Quality Improvement team, District Leadership Positive Behavior and Intervention Support Team, Strategic Planning Leadership Team, Incident Command Team, and attends Board of Trustee meetings to facilitate action items and provide updates on Allied Health Services matters. Prepares board reports and action items, as scheduled. Assists with the accreditation process and monitors ongoing recommendations related to Allied Health Services. Maintain effective communication and professional relationships working closely with school leadership team (instruction, boarding, admissions, business services, budgets and grants, human resources, technology and outreach, facilities, and police services) members, staff, students, parents and stakeholders. Addresses issues, facilitates conflict resolution, and engages with stakeholders, including parents, to provide support and solutions. Plan, develop, write, budget, and approve spending of general revenue, Medicaid, and private/endowment funding. Oversee the purchasing of materials and expenditures. Offer support to leadership staff within Allied Health for their department’s budget and spending. Conduct monthly budget meetings with leadership within Allied Health and serve as the primary administrative contact in the negotiations of support services contracts, including dental care, physical therapy, ophthalmology, dietitian, medical professionals, and Medicaid administrative billing services. Monitor equipment usage, maintenance, replacement, and procurement for the Allied Health Departments. Other duties as assigned.   • Master’s degree or higher in related field.
  • Twelve credit hours of college coursework in educational leadership or administration and supervision or equivalent.
  • Five years professional experience in related field, three of which must be in a supervisory position.
  • Additional requirements mandated by state/federal law and position responsibilities.
