Under general direction, you will oversee the daily operations, staff, and quality systems of the Sheriff’s Office Forensic Lab Services. You’ll provide leadership, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and support the lab’s mission through strong operational planning, technical oversight, and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice or a closely related field; AND b. Have at least six (6) years of full-time work experience in a forensic laboratory experience involving at least (1) year performing lead or supervisory duties in a laboratory setting; OR a. Possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Chemistry, Criminal Justice or a closely related field; AND b. Have at least eight (8) years of full-time work experience in a forensic laboratory experience involving at least one (1) year experience performing lead or supervisory duties in a laboratory setting.
  • Have not been convicted of a violation of criminal law. (Criminal law generally includes all offenses except traffic law, conservation law and liquor law. In general, conviction for a violation of criminal law is automatically disqualifying.)
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.
  • Pass the total examination, including the employment physical established for this classification.
  • Satisfactorily complete the six-month probationary period.
  • Must maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license, firearms qualification and deputization status.
  • A field investigation will be conducted covering an evaluation of employment, school, home, criminal, military or other personal records.
  • Any conviction or convictions for moving traffic violations, accidents, non-moving traffic violations, or violations of other laws will be reviewed by the Sheriff’s Office before an applicant can be appointed.
  • Information obtained during the background investigation will be considered in the hiring decision.
  • Convictions of the Domestic Violence Statute will be a disqualifying factor.
