About The Position

The Department of Labor is looking for a temporary Administrative Technician to provide direct administrative and program support to the Foreign Labor Certification (FLC) Program. Successful candidates should be able to multitask, be detail-oriented, and communicate professionally with individuals on all levels. This is a temporary position estimated to last up to one year from date of hire.

Requirements

  • Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary degree in office management, secretarial/office support, customer service, administration, or related area or one year experience in office management, including use of computer software.
  • Prior experience in clerical, record-keeping, document preparation, correspondence management, task tracking and scheduling duties.
  • Knowledge of: office procedures and processes; customer service processes and principles; administrative and office/clerical support procedures; Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; file management; record keeping, and database management.
  • Skilled in: Data extraction and documentation; interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to: communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to others; adhere to program procedures; formulate and recommend alternative courses of action; exchange information and ideas with others; create charts, graphs, and/or reports using word processing or other computer applications; summarize technical data and results of research into reports; track and monitor information; retrieve information from a variety of sources; coordinate resources and people; learn organizational structure, mission, and activities of the agency; learn agency policies and procedures and sources of information pertinent to the assigned work, regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the full workflow of H-2A and H‑2B applications, ensuring all actions comply with federal regulations, program deadlines, and NDOL procedures.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of FLC rules, filing requirements, timelines, and documentation standards.
  • Regular interaction is required with agricultural employers, attorneys, agents, and internal NDOL staff.
  • Respond to program inquiries, route information to appropriate staff, monitor case progress, and track correspondence and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare official correspondence, maintain organized case files, maintain regular communication with field offices for housing inspections, and provide phone and administrative support as needed to ensure timely and compliant processing of FLC applications.
  • In-depth analysis and judgment are required to interpret and adapt guidelines, regulations, and precedents to specific work problems, and to determine appropriate courses of action.
