About The Position

This position is directly responsible for providing administrative support and supervision of the Department’s office activities. The position reports directly to the Department Chairperson and supports the effective and smooth completion of faculty, staff, and student activities. Responsibilities include clerical support, fiscal transaction processing, work study supervision, department event planning, constituent communication, and general office activities. Individuals should have a demonstrated record of commitment to customer service, self-directed initiative, and the ability to organize and handle multiple tasks. Requirements

  • The formal education of a high school diploma
  • One year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field
  • Four years of experience in administrative support
  • One year in a supervisory or leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated record of commitment to customer service
  • Self-directed initiative
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of department or office operations, policies, and procedures
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Knowledge of basic financial principles
  • Ability to perform and prepare basic quantitative reviews
  • Ability to resolve operational problems
  • Ability to research, prepare, and present written reports to the supervisor

  • Experience as an office manager
  • Experience with event planning and management
  • Experience with processing travel authorizations and claims in the University of Arkansas’ (UA) BASIS and WebBasis systems
  • Experience with basic accounting practices
