About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 12 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Department of Corrections is seeking applicants for an Administrative Specialist at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex. This position would be assigned to the Warden's area and would function as the Grievance Coordinator and the back-up to the Major's secretary. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Draft security memos and letters for distribution. Review correspondence for accuracy. Receive notices of grievances from inmates who is filing the grievance as well an any additional correspondence following the initial notice. The grievance coordinator provides a written response to all notices and then follows up each grievance be researching the event. Update policy and procedures manuals as needed. Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to: Organizational skills. Attention to detail. Planning. Ability to work under pressure. Teamwork. Good communication skills.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
