About The Position

The Division of Licensing within the Kentucky Department of Insurance oversees and facilitates every aspect of licensing for individuals and business entities engaged in insurance transactions. The division is responsible for ensuring that licensees comply with licensing laws and regulations, including the approval of continuing education and pre-licensing course of instruction. We are looking for an Administrative Specialist Senior to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist Senior, you will provides high-level professional administrative support to internal staff and leadership related to the Department of Insurance operations. Performs duties in the oversight of intricate processes such as activities involving mandated regulations or procedures, comprehensive research, or collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; and performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-level professional administrative support to the division by processing voluntary surrenders, record correction requests and carrier appointments and terminations submitted to the department.
  • Receives producer terminations for cause and updates licensee records in database.
  • Interprets departmental policy, Kentucky statutes and regulations, and procedures to the public and departmental employees by responding to division e-mails and phone calls, providing information relative to licensing.
  • Provides support to director, and Insurance Program Manager with insurance investigations.
  • Performs in-depth review and processes license renewals, reviews background criminal and civil disclosures making determinations for approval or further investigation.
  • Reviews, verifies and loads eServices transactions to the database for name and address corrections, social security number and NPN corrections, dba name changes, certification and clearance letter requests, pending fees received, and rejects transactions when necessary.
  • Serves as the liaison for monitoring, verifying, correcting and explaining education provider requests and inquiries to the Education Providers in Kentucky.
  • Interprets proper procedures for filing courses and instructors, and statutes and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
