About The Position

As the Administrative Manager for the Department of Entomology, you will serve as the principal fiscal advisor and provides comprehensive financial and administrative management. This includes managing and administering the accounting information systems functions; ensuring compliance with university, state and federal regulations; providing analysis and reports used to track financial and academic resources and outcomes; and establishing rates and determining cost-effective methods of conducting business. Additionally, you will provides management and administrative oversight for personnel issues for the Department. You will be responsible for overall management and leadership of the Department’s day-to-day operations and financial services, fiscal and budgetary management, facilities and resource management, coordination of contracts and grants, service centers, and implementation of operational policies and procedures. These responsibilities require using independent judgement to analyze problems and implement solutions. To be successful in this role, you will need to utilize finance, budget, and management skills, be able to accomplish work through account analysis, reconciliation, and balance maintenance, and to delegate duties, responsibility, and authority to others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet, database, word processing, email, and calendaring software.
  • Experience with budget, personnel, and management of financial resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparing financial reports

Nice To Haves

  • More than 2 years of fiscal experience in an academic department in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Washington State University (WSU) systems
  • Experience with the Workday system.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using computerized accounting information systems and/or applications software.
  • Demonstrated effective managerial experience.
