About The Position

Bellevue School District administrators are dedicated to upholding the District's vision, mission, and strategic goals. The Administrative Intern will collaborate closely with school and district leaders to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the diverse responsibilities of a Principal or Program Director. This internship offers an immersive opportunity to develop skills in educational leadership, curriculum planning, program management, and student affairs, equipping candidates with essential building-level and program-level administrative expertise. Requirements

  • Have at least three years of demonstrated successful teaching experience and at least one year of teacher leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated effective instructional leadership.
  • Demonstrated leadership in district and building level committees.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills.
  • Experience of effective relationship with students, parents, and certificated and classified personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
  • Traits which indicate a high moral character including honesty, empathy, and integrity.
  • Evaluations of employment that support the aforementioned qualities of the candidate.
  • Possess a valid Washington state teaching certificate.
  • Current experience, knowledge, and commitment to the needs of children; young adults and/or maturing adolescents.
  • Provides positive, collaborative leadership to staff, students and the community.
  • Builds and maintains a culture that fosters collaborative relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Models exemplary professionalism.
  • Expresses and communicates ideas clearly for different audiences in oral presentation and in written communication.
  • Ability to provide appropriate supervision and leadership to the instructional program.
  • Ability to seek relevant and current data, analyze and research complex information.
  • Ability to reach logical conclusions, make high quality decisions, and set priorities.
  • Experience responding to and engaging in a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community.
  • Experience involving others in solving problems and guiding them to accomplishment and manage conflict in a positive and professional manner.
  • Experience as a strong facilitator and skilled at group process; positive attitude, sense of collegiality.
  • Experience in leading discussions and facilitating meetings.

  • Training and/or experience working with students with a variety of educational abilities, backgrounds, skills and cultures; including special needs, multiple language learners, and/or special education, and/or “at-risk”.
  • The most competitive candidates are able to speak a language other than English fluently.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day administrative operations of the school under the guidance of the Principal and other administrative staff.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of educational programs, initiatives, and policies aimed at enhancing student achievement and school improvement.
  • Assist in analyzing academic data, assessment results, and student performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Engage with students, parents, and faculty to address student concerns, facilitate conflict resolution, and support initiatives promoting a positive school culture.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, attend meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions to broaden understanding and acquire new skills in educational leadership.
  • Creating a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for students and staff.
  • Providing for school safety.
  • Assist in the design and lead professional development programs that meet the needs of staff and students.
  • Partnering with the school community to promote student learning.
  • Demonstrating commitment to closing the achievement gap.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with all constituencies.
  • Visible and supportive of all curricular and extra-curricular programs.
