About The Position

The Administrative Graduate Assistant (AGA) plays a pivotal role in advancing the Helms School of Government’s mission through the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy. This position supports enrollment, retention, alumni engagement, and fundraising efforts by producing and managing content across multiple media platforms, analyzing communication effectiveness, and serving as a liaison between the school and internal/external stakeholders. Strategic Communications Planning Assist in developing and implementing a communications strategy aligned with school and university goals. Target key audiences including prospective students, current students, alumni, donors, and external partners. Content Creation & Media Production Produce engaging content for print, digital, video, and imagery formats. Lead promotional campaigns for events, academic programs, and faculty/student spotlights. Social Media & Digital Management Manage content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Champion Connect. Maintain and update the school’s website and digital presence. Event Promotion & Coverage Promote and document events such as CFAW, guest lectures, conferences, and field trips. Capture and share learning outcomes and engagement highlights. Data Analysis & Strategy Optimization Utilize analytics tools to assess communication performance. Conduct regular reviews to refine strategies and improve engagement. Alumni & Donor Engagement Collaborate with the Development Office to support fundraising campaigns. Create testimonial videos and targeted content for alumni and donor outreach. Internal & External Liaison Coordinate with university departments and external agencies to align messaging and initiatives. Represent the school in strategic partnerships and outreach efforts. Student Community Platform Management Manage and promote the “Helms School of Government Student Community” platform to enhance student engagement and resource access. Requirements

  • Must be a current Liberty University graduate student.
  • Strong writing, verbal communication, and time management skills.
  • Experience with content creation and social media management.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite, Canva, and iOS apps.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Enrolled in a communications or creative field of study.
  • Prior experience in marketing or communications roles.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, or Premiere Pro.
  • Experience with CMS platforms and website maintenance.
  • Knowledge of audio/video editing and lighting techniques.
