About The Position

The administrative fellowship at Marshall Health is designed to cultivate the next generation of health care leaders, equipping participants with a comprehensive skill set and a deep understanding of the complexities within the health care industry. The 12-month multidisciplinary program, based in Huntington, West Virginia, is designed to provide fellows with a range of experiences in strategic planning, clinical operations, ambulatory care, digital solutions, network development, facilities planning, performance improvement and patient experience. Fellows assume a contributing role on the health care management team, providing a tailored fellowship experience based on your interests and strengths. Program Highlights Curriculum Excellence: Benefit from a meticulously-crafted curriculum that covers a wide spectrum of subjects, including health care policy, finance, IT, strategic planning and ethics. Mentorship from Industry Experts: Engage with seasoned professionals and thought leaders in health care administration through a structured mentorship program. Fellows will receive personalized guidance, gaining valuable insights into effective leadership, innovative problem-solving and strategic decision-making. Research Opportunities: Fellows will engage in data-driven analysis to support executive decision-making. Projects may include benchmarking against national standards, evaluating service line performance, assessing growth opportunities, and conducting targeted policy or regulatory review. These efforts directly inform strategic and operational decision-making across service lines. Practical Exposure: Immerse yourself in real-world scenarios with hands-on experiences, including exposure to diverse health care settings, from urban medical centers to rural community clinics, ensuring a holistic understanding of health care administration. Networking Opportunities: Connect with a vast network of business and health care professionals, alumni and industry leaders through networking events and conferences. Fellows interface with Marshall’s academic health care leaders daily and attend weekly executive team meetings and events. Compensation Administrative fellows are part- or full-time employees of Marshall Health. Fellows are eligible for benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, retirement plan, sick and annual leave according to their employee status. Rate is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must be actively pursuing a master's degree from an accredited college or university in one or more of the following fields of study or related degree programs: Hospital Administration, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration.
  • Current resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation - one academic, one professional, and one other (academic, professional, or a letter from your program director)
  • Graduate school transcript(s)
  • Personal statement (500 words or less) that includes: How your interest in health care management developed, Goals you would like to accomplish during the administrative fellowship, Your long-term career objectives

  • Preference will be given to Marshall University graduates or current graduate students.
